Kensington Man Killed in Crash at Great Falls Road in Rockville

The victim's 53-year-old son, of Hanover, was driving when the car was struck on the passenger side by another car.

An 89-year-old Kensington man died at the hospital after the car in which he was riding collided with another car at the intersection of Maryland Avenue and Great Falls Road in Rockville, police said.

A 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada was traveling eastbound on Maryland Avenue with a green traffic signal and a 2004 Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound, attempting to turn left onto Potomac Valley Road with a green traffic signal Saturday afternoon, police said.  As the Toyota was making the left turn, the Oldsmobile struck the Toyota on the passenger side, according to a press release.

The front passenger in the Toyota, identified as Irwin Percival Bellamy, 89, of Kensington, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Toyota was the victim’s son, a 53-year-old man from Hanover. He had non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The 73-year-old driver of the Oldsmobile, a Potomac resident, was not injured.
