House Fire In Rockville Thursday Deemed 'Accidental'

MCFRS: No reports of injuries

A fire that torched the back of a Rockville home Thursday morning was ruled “accidental,” according to investigators’ initial report.

The fire was dispatched at around 7:45 a.m. to the 600 block of Douglas Avenue, in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, where fire fighters were met with “heavy fire,” said Beth Anne Nesselt, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman.

It took firefighters 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

There were no reports of injuries. People were inside the home when the fire started but were able to escape, Nesselt said.

Investigators were still assessing the damage. The fire did not spread to other homes, Nesselt said.
