House Fire in Rockville Caused $86K Damage

Heavy fire scorched the back of a Rockville home Thursday morning.

An early morning house fire in Rockville on Thursday caused more than $80,000 in damage, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokeswoman said.

Citing the investigator’s report, spokeswoman Beth Anne Nesselt said the fire caused $76,000 in structural damage and $10,000 damage to the home’s contents.

Fire crews were sent to a home in the 600 block of Douglas Avenue at around 7:45 a.m. Thursday and found heavy fire at the back of a single-family residence.

Nesselt said people were inside the home when the fire started, but they were able to escape. There were no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire was deemed “accidental.”
