An 18-year-old Rockville man was found guilty Tuesday of first-degree assault and use of a handgun in a violent crime for the shooting at the Rockville Metro station in May.

Tavares D. Prosecutors argued that Harris “aided and abetted” Kevin Q. Nguyen by providing the gun that Nguyen, 17, of the 300 block of North Van Buren Street in Rockville, used to open fire at the station on May 18.

Harris’s attorney argued that Nguyen planned the shooting himself, The Gazette reported.

A 16-year-old boy—who police said was the target—and an 18-year-old female bystander suffered non-life-threatening injuries in at the east entrance of the busy station in Town Center.

Prosecutors said the shooting stemmed from an afterschool fight between Nguyen and the male victim, The Washington Examiner reported. All three boys attended Richard Montgomery High School.

Nguyen is scheduled to go on trial Dec. 17, according to online court records.

Harris’ sentencing hearing is scheduled for Feb. 12. He faces up to 45 years in prison, NBC4 reported. Sentencing guidelines call for a mandatory five years in prison without the possibility of parole for the handgun charge, The Gazette reported.
