Georgetown Prep Employee Arrested for Bringing Gun to School

Police: Employee reportedly brought unloaded Smith & Wesson revolver to school with intention of having work done on it later.

Georgetown Preparatory School employee was arrested Thursday on charges of bringing a gun onto school grounds.

Montgomery County police were dispatched to the North Bethesda school just prior to 2 p.m.

According to police, Stephen P. Lafferty, 51, of Frederick, MD, brought an unloaded Smith & Wesson revolver with him with the intention of having work done on it after school.

The gun, which was in its holster, was placed on his desk, Police said.

Lafferty was arrested and his gun was taken. He was also charged with possessing drug paraphernalia, police said.

Lafferty was released after posting $10,000 bond, according to court records accessed online.
