Charges Filed in Case Of Woman Robbed While Loading Groceries

Two men have been charged, according to Rockville City Police

Two arrests were made in the case of a woman who was robbed on Monday while loading groceries into her car and was dragged to the ground as robbers took her purse, according to Rockville City Police.

Jugo A. Rivera, 28, of no fixed address, was charged with robbery, second-degree assault and misdemeanor theft, according to District Court records accessed online.

Jose M. Lopez, 29, of the 500 block of College Parkway, was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, according to information from police.

Investigators said they identified the men from video footage of the robbery that occurred Monday, around 12:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Hungerford Drive.

A woman reported that a man approached her asking for money. But as she reached into her purse, the suspect grabbed it and began to run away dragging her to the ground, according to police.

Rivera was arrested Thursday and was being held on $100,00 bond. A hearing was scheduled for Rivera on May 19, court records show.

Lopez was arrested Wednesday and was released on personal bond, according to Rockville City Police. Court data was unavailable for Lopez.
