With me!

I'm a big "spokesdog" for obedience training.  I saw where "no training" ultimately got me....I got dumped off at the shelter!  One PetFinder survey showed that over 90% of dogs ending up in the shelter had no obedience training.

Here's a fun cue you can teach your dog that can help with a variety of problematic situations.  With your back to your dog (and your dog close behind) as your put a treat in your left loosely cupped hand (dangling slightly behind your back), step forward and say "With Me!"   Chances are your dog will happily follow.  Let him enjoy the treat.   Praise him with a happy voice.

Practice indoors and out, where initially there are little to no distractions.  Start out close and with an extra yummy treat to ensure success. Dogs need repetition and consistency to learn.

Dog's outside barking excessively?  "With Me!" can help lure him inside.  Dog's dragging  you down the street on a walk?  "With Me!" can get them to change direction and follow you.  Need to lure your dog away from the front door?  "With Me!"

Your dog is willing to learn so give it a try!
