Staying Fit During the Dog Days of Summer Can Be Challenging….Stay Motivated with Fitbit Wireless Activity Tracker

As the doldrums of summer set in, don’t let your exercise routine go to the dogs.

Staying fit during the last weeks of summer can be challenging but, luckily, several walks, fun runs and races are lined-up in the Rockville area, providing great ways to stay in shape and keep those summer fitness resolutions in play.

The Twinbrook Tri is coming up on Sunday, August 25th at the Twinbrook Swimming Pool.

Maybe you'd love to participate in this super sprint distance triathlon that’s geared for ages “10 to 100”, but need a little inspiration to kick-start your motivation

Check out the Verizon Wireless Fitbit, a digital pedometer that tracks steps, distance walked and calories burned that automatically syncs with your computer, smartphone or tablet (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&accessoryId=51922).

Even though it’s loaded with tons of cool features, it’s still small in size.  A free iPhone or Android Fitbit app basically turns the device into your personal trainer, so you can set goals and compete with friends and family, earn milestone badges, and even graph your progress. It also integrates well with popular fitness apps like My Fitness Pal among others.

It could be perfect for the Twinbrook Tri trail run through the woods, and it can keep you inspired, long after the race is over. Since your Fitbit stats wirelessly upload to the device you set, you'll always know your progress in real time.  So when you’re close to reaching your daily goal, your phone or computer will let you know that you’re almost there – an incentive to go a bit further. You can also use the app (or the Fitbit website) to log your food intake, weight and more, giving you total control of your fitness goals.

Get motivated and get moving! How many steps can you take this week?
