Real Estate Help for Retirees

The task of putting a beloved home on the market, with all its memories and treasures, is daunting for most older adults. And, yet, the time comes when it is good to go on with your life, and find housing that  better suits your current needs. Many retirees find the appeal of less space to maintain, no yard work, and freedom to travel,  a much more manageable lifestyle.

Ingleside at King Farm, a continuing care retirement community is offering a series of talks by real estate and downsizing professionals, to help retirees grapple with all the changes they are contemplating, and current real estate market conditions.

The first talk is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, at 1:00pm. Eric Stewart of Long and Foster Real Estate will discuss the forecast of the market for the next year or two, housing trends, and the ongoing recovery.

Stewart is a 26 year veteran in the Montgomery County real estate market, was awarded a Senior Real Estate Specialist designation, and has his own radio show on Sunday mornings on WMAL radio.

"With my many years of experience in the local market, I project a bullish trend for real estate over the next two years. Fluidity in the financial markets will enable sellers to make longer term decisions and to prepare and sell their home in that period of time," says Stewart.

Also, save the date for our September talk, Downsizing for Seniors with Suzie Danick, to be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 1:00pm. Danick's "Get Moving" seminar takes attendees through the steps of deciding what to toss, and what to move with you into your new home. She addresses the emotional attachment issues to one's belongings and how to make decisions you won't regret. A special aspect of her talk will be space planning as the key to a successful move.
