Ingleside at King Farm Plans a Spectacular Holiday Season

A local retirement community prides itself on artistic and musical appreciation. This holiday season Ingleside at King Farm has many concerts and festivities scheduled for residents to enjoy.

Who can resist the music and sounds of the winter holiday season? If you are not in the spirit, a jolly sing-along of "Jingle Bells" will perk you right up. If you are feeling a little blue, a carol will stir your soul. If the frenzy of the season has you in a tizzy, a soft rendition of "I'll be Home for Christmas" will create a perfectly mellow mood.

December's holiday festivities at Ingleside of King Farm begin and end with music and song. Our Holiday Concert Series has carolers, and chorale groups, soloists and gospel choirs. The first of the 21 planned concerts is a Yiddish nostalgia piano concert, the last, an Anthony Hyatt violin concert. In between, Ingleside residents will be serenaded by a caroling Brownie troupe, hum along to Steve Gellman's folk songs and walk in a winter wonderland with mezzo soprano Cathleen Kenny and many others.

Ingleside shines in hospitality and opens wide its doors this month, with two events open to the public. The first, our Holiday Open House and tours were Thursday. The second is an informational luncheon for prospective residents from 11 .a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Contact Christen to RSVP by calling 240-499-9019.

Our annual holiday party is an upscale affair, with a cocktail reception, formal dinner and lavish dessert buffet. After dinner, dancing with the jazz and old standards played by the John Sausser Quartet will end the celebration.

Washingtonian magazine gave us a nice gift. They recently selected Ingleside at King Farm as one of the area’s most vibrant retirement communities for our array of health, social and cultural amenities. The article—“Five New Assisted-Living Communities in Washington with Top-Notch Amenities"—in the November issue cites Ingleside’s three restaurants, performing-arts theater, day spa, fitness center and heated swimming pool.

Ingleside residents will ring in the New Year in style at our third annual New Years Eve Party, complete with the official ball drop at midnight. Fitness Director Erich Lichota once again serves as the emcee of a night of entertainment, music and stories. Resident-selected dance tunes will play over our high tech iPod sound system. Residents will bring finger foods prepared in their home kitchens and set up a festive buffet to share. The highlight of the evening is sure to be resident John Klimkiewicz, in a humorous one man act, "First Lady of the Land."
