Stars: Tom Cruise and Robert Duvall

What it’s about: Cruise plays the role of Jack Reacher (the hero of many Lee Child books) as a former military investigator who is lured back to help with the case of a sniper attack.

Movie: On the Road

Stars: Garret Hedlund, Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst

What it’s about: A film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s legendary 1957 novel about a free-spirited writer traveling in search of freedom from conformity.

Movie: This is 40

Stars: Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Megan Fox and Albert Brooks

What it’s about: The so called “sequel” to Knocked Up follows married couple Rudd and Mann dealing with issues of aging and marriage.

Movie: Django Unchained

Stars: Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz

What it’s about: Already generating Oscar Buzz, Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained follows the story of Jamie Foxx’s titular character, a bounty hunter and former slave as he sets out to rescue his wife from plantation owner DiCaprio.

Movie: Parental Guidance

Stars: Billy Crystal, Bette Midler, Marisa Tomei and Tom Everett Scott

What it’s about: This family-friendly film finds Billy Crystal and Bette Midler as grandparents who are forced to embrace pop culture to connect with the three grandkids they are taking care of.

Rating: PG

Movie: Les Miserables

Stars: Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried

What it’s about: Following decades of success as a stage musical, Les Mis gets the full-blown Hollywood treatment of Victor Hugo’s classic tale of sacrifice and redemption, broken dreams, unrequited love and the inextinguishable human spirit.

Premiering New Year's Day

Movie:  Dino Time

Stars: The voices of Jane Lynch, Melanie Griffith, William Baldwin and Rob Schnieder

What it’s about: This animated film follows the adventures of young Ernie, who along with his best friend Max, discover Max’s father's egg-shaped time machine and unintended consequences ensue.

Rating: PG-13

Glad (and maybe surprised) you recommended the charming, funny, heart-warming movie Parental Guidance starring the inimitable Billy Crystal and Bette Midler.
