Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration is set for 7 p.m. at Montgomery College’s Rockville campus.

The fireworks show—preceded by patriotic music from Fugitive Brass Quintet and the Rockville Concert Band—kicks off at 9 p.m.

Bring chairs, blankets but leave alcohol, cigarettes and barbecue grills at the house.

Last year the City of Rockville cancelled its fireworks show at the last minute, in the wake of destructive storms that left much of the county without electricity and under debris.

Power outages and downed lines limited access to the campus, Patch reported in 2012.

Does anyone know of a good place near the college that would have a good view? Looking to get a little distance but an unobstructed view!

@amarynth: Maybe Rock Terrace HS or Municpal Pool parking lot or the Welsh Park ballfields? If you want to be further, maybe Westmore Ave. across 355 and the Metro & Amtrak lines? Either that or "drive" very slowly during the Grand Finale :) Good Luck!
