Watch: Rockville Concert Band Serenade Outside Tippy’s Taco House

Performance was in promotion of Rockville Rewards, a Rockville Chamber of Commerce program that raises money for local nonprofits.

Lunchtime visitors to Tippy’s Taco House on Thursday got a free serenade from the Rockville Concert Band.

The performance was meant to be a buzz-builder during the Rockville Rewards flash-sale, an attempt to raise $10,000 for Rockville-area nonprofits in three hours.

Rockville Chamber of Commerce campaign, Rockville Rewards is a discount card program in which 100 percent of the proceeds from discount cards sold for $25 go to local organizations like the Rockville Concert Band. In exchange, the buyer can use the cards for deals at more than 100 participating Rockville businesses, including Tippy’s.

The full list of participating businesses is posted at RockvilleRewards.com.

On Tuesday, the cards were being offered for $15, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., in an attempt to drive sales. Several businesses around Town Square were offering deals during the three-hour time span.

The results the flash sale were still being tabulated at the time this story published Thursday evening.

The Rockville Rewards cards went on sale Aug. 1 and are valid Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, 2014. People can by the cards online or through any of the participating business or nonprofits.
