Geneva Day School Builds Igloo Reading Nook for Kindergarteners

A family turns milk jugs into a unique space for young readers.

Geneva Day School kindergarteners returned from winter break to find an igloo in their classroom.

The Maryland certified Green School takes its pledge to recycle, reuse and repurpose seriously. The school encourages a lifelong love of learning by constantly seeking creative and fun approaches to everyday activities—in this case a unique reading nook.

After amassing over 300 empty milk jugs from school families, parent Vicki Dunn and her family generously volunteered to construction the igloo over the winter break. While the igloo is in the kindergarten classroom, the school’s other students have stopped in to visit.
