Community Corner

F. Scott Fitzgerald Book Club

On November 12 at 7 – 9 p.m. join
Professors Jackson Bryer and Eleanor Heginbotham from the F. Scott Fitzgerald
Literary Conference as they facilitate conversation on two novelettes
illuminating Gatsby and its author, F. Scott Fitzgerald. In "Winter
Dreams," a miniature of the story of Nick, Jay, and Zelda and in
"Babylon Revisted," a what-comes-after for such characters,
Fitzgerald's poetic prose explores his theme: the growing, sometimes stunning,
recognition of the vanity of human desire.
Exchange views and examine aspects of both stories as you sit in front
of the fire in the 1920s historic setting of Glenview Mansion living room.
Refreshments will be served. Register for course #44213 at
www.rockenroll.rockvillemd.gov. Cost $5 for residents and $8 for non-residents.
