Join friends of the Rockville Science Center aboard the Skipjack Stanley Norman to connect with the Bay environment and recognize the Bay's intrinsic value to our everyday lives. The boat is a platform to learn about past and present marine life, life of a Chesapeake Bay waterman, and consider the Bay's future, while having fun.

The focus is on oysters as a key element in the health and history of the Bay. Dredge hauls are used to demonstrate oyster harvesting technique, observe and touch a variety of marine life and samples of the materials that comprise the floor of the Bay. History, folklore and cultures of the Bay, inseparable from its natural science and fisheries technology, are described.
