Gansler Announces Lieutenant Governor Choice
Delegate Jolene Ivey of Prince George's County will join ticket as Lieutenant Governor.

Attorney General Doug Gansler, who is running for the Democratic nomination for governor, has picked Del. Jolene Ivey (D-Prince George’s County) as his running mate, Gansler’s campaign announced Monday morning.
Ivey is a two-term Maryland Delegate and Prince George’s County delegation chair.

Last month it was reported that Ivey would join his ticket as Lieutenant Governor and was one of three elected officials on Gansler’s short list for Lieutenant Governor. The other two were Baltimore City Comptroller Joan Pratt and Del. Keiffer J. Mitchell Jr. (D-Baltimore City).
Pratt, at the time, said she had conversations with Gansler’s campaign about running for lieutenant governor. Mitchell wouldn’t confirm whether he was being considered for the slot.

"It’s not up to me," Mitchell said in September.
There are two other candidates who are also running for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in 2014.
