UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued

The warning is for Montgomery County until 7:30 p.m.

Update, 7 p.m.:

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Montgomery County until 7:30 p.m.

At 6:42 p.m. Doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing hail up to the size of quarters and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, according to the NWS. The storms extended from Leesburg, VA to 15 miles southwest of Front Royal, VA and were moving at 15 mph, the alert said.

There is a significant damaging wind and hail threat beginning to develop for the region, NWS said.

Those with outdoor plans should monitor the skies and be prepared for threatening weather. If you are outdoors and a storm approaches, seek safe shelter indoors, NWS said.
