  • The Montgomery County Council is hosting a town hall meeting for students at 7 tonight at the in Rockville Town Center. A pre-meeting reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor cafeteria. RSVP by calling 240-777-7931. Expect to be a hot topic. Can’t make it out? County Cable Montgomery (Channel 6 on Comcast and RCN; Channel 30 on Verizon) will carry it live.
  • is selling pies and pumpkin rolls to help defray medical costs for the family of Rockville High physical education teacher Frank Weaver. Weaver’s 10-year-old daughter, Lily, was diagnosed with bone cancer in August. The last day to place an order is Oct. 22. Delivery to the school will be Nov. 11.   • Rockville will host an economic summit from 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday at in Town Square. Stephen Fuller, director of the Center for Regional Analysis at George Mason University will deliver the keynote, an analysis of the city’s economy that he is preparing.   • Rake ‘em! The City of Rockville has released its leaf collection schedule.
  • Montgomery County Council employees will be collecting items for injured military personnel from Monday through Oct. 21. Needed items include clothes, DVDs, video games, calling and gift cards, water and nonperishable snack foods, toiletries and monetary donations.
