Reader Pics: Gun Prevention Rally in Rockville

Mayors Against Gun Violence and the local chapter of Organizing for Action hosted a rally in Rockville on Saturday

These are scenes from a gun violence prevention rally in Rockville Town Square on Saturday. The event was hosted by Mayors Against Gun Violence and the local chapter of Organizing for Action, a political group allied with President Barack Obama.

Speakers included Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett and Vincent DeMarco, board president of the Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence. There was also a candlelight vigil and a moment of silence.

Jennifer M. Hosey, director of OFA’s local chapter, submitted the photos to Patch.

She said the group was “disappointed” that the U.S. Senate rejected expanded background checks on firearm sales.

“This is just round one,” Hosey said. “We’re going to come back and we’re going to fight harder because we’re on the right side of this.”
