Patch Picks: Passover Recipes

Passover is a time for family. It's also a time for some delicious food.

The first night of the Jewish holiday of Passover is April 18. The holiday celebrates the Exodus of the Jews from Egypt with a special meal called a seder.  It can be a long evening but there’s plenty of excellent food in store. If you’re looking for some new recipes, here are some Web sites you won’t want to miss:

  • Chabad.org has recipes for every holiday. Their recipes for Passover include everything from the items on the seder plate to chicken soup with matzo balls. Check them out for some new ideas.
  • Koshercooking.com has you covered for Passover, too. Don’t be concerned when you see the heading for Passover rolls. Everything there is matzo-based. The section includes a recipe for matzo brie.
  • Kosher4Passover.com claims to have more recipes than any other site. I don’t know if it’s true but I do know they’ve got Passover recipes for vegetarians and diabetics. They also have more than 40 different ways to make charoset. They even link to an online supermarket.
  • Kashrut.com's Passover recipes include the tomato gefilte fish, a new spin on an old dish. They also have a recipe for fried gefilte fish. Frankly, I’m more interested in the crisp lemon chicken.
