Patch Picks: Great Burgers

Looking to chill with something from the grill? Try these burger joints.

Are you in the mood for a burger?  Rockville has a number of excellent options. Here are a few:

  • , in the Rock Creek Village Shopping Center on Norbeck Road, serves Black Angus burgers. You can add a “style," including smoky barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese and bacon; honey-mustard BBQ sauce, provolone and bacon; garlic mushroom, Swiss cheese and onion rings; spicy two alarm chili, cheddar-jack cheese and green onion; honey lime sauce, avocado and provolone; or zesty bourbon sauce, bleu cheese and bacon.   • , on Rockville Pike, lets you build our own burger—starting with a 1/3, 1/2, 2/3 or one pound burger. Select from a variety of toppings from the grill and fixins bar. Burgers are served on buns made fresh daily in Fuddruckers restaurant bakeries. Call 301-468-3501.
  • , on Gibbs Street in Rockville Town Square, offers both regular size and “little size” burgers. Menu options include hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bacon burgers and bacon cheeseburgers with a choice of toppings. Five Guys opened their first store in 1986 in Arlington. They have expanded to more than 750 locations in more than 40 states and four Canadian provinces. They must be doing something right. People with food allergies should note that Five Guys uses peanut oil. Call 301-762-3500.
  • , in the Fallsgrove Shopping Center on Shady Grove Road, offers veggie, turkey and Angus beef burgers. They have a burger to match your appetite—20 ounces, 14 ounces, 10 ounces, 7 ounces, and 5.5 ounces. Invent your own burger by selecting from eight different types of cheese, 30 toppings and four specialty toppings. Cheeburger Cheeburger’s website has an extensive allergen chart for people with food allergies.   • , on Pleasant Drive in King Farm, has traditional and non-traditional burgers on their extensive menu. YumBurgers’ traditional offerings include American cheese, mushrooms, and bacon burgers on a bun or wrap. Their non-traditional offerings include Dogbert's Peruvian YumBurger (onions, tomato, cilantro and yellow hot peppers, topped with pepper jack cheese and salsa), Zorba The Greek American YumBurger (a Feta cheese infused burger topped with bacon, onions, tomato and American cheese), and Buck's The “All-American” YumBurger (American cheese, bacon, onion rings, peanut butter and topped with strawberry jelly). Their premium toppings include guacamole, fried egg, salsa, grilled mushroom, sauté garlic spinach, grilled onion, avocado, and Yummichurri. YumBurger also has vegan and chipotle filet burgers.
