It's not easy being green. But green can be cool and is beautiful. Kermit the Frog knew that. Now you can be green, too. Here are multiple ways to get started:

Upcoming lectures include a conservation landscaping information session at 1 p.m. on Saturday, making your home more energy efficient on at 7 p.m. on Sept. 21, and the basics of composting on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. Call 240-314-8770 or view the schedule of events
  • Schedule an energy audit. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends a to identify energy-efficiency issues in your home. The energy audit will tell you what improvements are needed to make your home more energy efficient and will project how much the improvements will save you in energy costs.

  • Learn the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Reduce the amount and toxicity of trash you discard. Reuse, repair or donate containers and products. Recycle as much as possible and buy recycled products.
  • Buy local. We are fortunate to have several farmers markets to select from. Among them, the , the in Town Center, a Wednesday .
