Patch Picks: Cinco de Mayo

May 5 is a week away. It's time to plan your Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Cinco de Mayo officially commemorates the Mexican army's victory over the French army on May 5, 1862. It's also a celebration of Mexican culture when anyone can join in the fun. Here are some ways to celebrate in Rockville:

  •  has you covered from 4 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Happy hour inside the restaurant runs 4-7 p.m. and features a disc jockey and drink specials. There's also a happy hour on the with music from 5-8 p.m.  The festivities move inside with a live band taking the stage in the bar from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
  • Celebrate with Mexican and South American cuisine at . El Mariachi offers a comfortable, family-oriented dining atmosphere with two spacious dining rooms. Call 301-738-7177 for more information. Reservations are not required.
  • Relax in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere at . Mi Rancho serves up fresh Tex-Mex classics with a bit of flair, including signature dishes like fresh fajitas, enchiladas and red snapper. Call 240-221-2635 for more information.
  • Located at the corner of North Washington Street and East Middle Lane in the heart of Town Center,  specializes in authentic Mexican cuisine and offers a large menu with daily specials. Outdoor seating is available, weather permitting. Call ahead for a reservation at 301-838-9070.
