There are lots of changes at Rockville Town Square lately. Readers report that and are gone. A new parking system is in place (more on that below). And apparently the fountain at the corner of Maryland and Beall avenues is throwing a foam party.

I snapped the shot at the right while on a recent visit to . It’s one example of the type of vandalism that occurs around Town Square from time to time. And now the “foam party” edition of “The Rundown”:

  • Rockville Town Square’s website features detailed information about the retail district’s new parking rules. Curiously, Fractured Prune appears on this flier, though it looks like it was about to get edited out. (Shout out to alert Rockville Patch reader Cheryl Kagan for pointing out that one—and for suggesting that would probably like a line of its own.)
  • will host a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday. The free celebration will feature music, dancing, representatives from the Latin American embassies and the Kaiser Mobile Health Center.
  • Rockville 11 will broadcast candidate forums from at 7 p.m. on October 13, 25 and 27. A different nonpartisan, independent group will sponsor each forum. The city election is Nov. 8.
  • The city is hosting The Rockville Summit: Road Map for the Future from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 18 at . Providing a map will be economist Stephen Fuller, director of the Center for Regional Analysis at George Mason University. Fuller will present a report on Rockville’s economic outlook. Business, nonprofit, civic, education and government leaders and members of the public are invited to participate in the discussion.
  • Some of the top college hoops coaches in the country will be in Rockville on Saturday for a coaching clinic hosted by the boys basketball program. Cost is $45 per coach in advance and $55 at the door.
