O'Malley met with CEO Dr. Jeremy Levin and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jon Isaacsohn to discuss the company’s growing presence in Maryland. The company acquired CoGenesys of Maryland—a spin-off of Human Genome Sciences—for $400 million in 2007.

O’Malley’s trip was part of an eight-day trade mission to Israel and Jordan that included more than 30 of Maryland leaders.

The governor addressed the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, held meetings with Israeli and U.S. diplomatic officials, and members of the Knesset, Israel’s legislative body.

In a stroke of football diplomacy, Wheaton Patch reports, O’Malley gave Israeli Parliament member Rabbi Dov Lipman—a Silver Spring native—a jersey of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

A YouTube clip of the exchange is posted at Wheaton Patch.
