Get Out: Patch's Pick-and-Choose Weekend Planner

For awesome weekend plans, consult our list of best bets before you head out on the town.

It’s Thursday. The weekend is so close you can almost taste it. The downside? You’ve got no idea what to do during your two days of freedom.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We've picked out some of the best events around Montgomery County for your done-work-outta-here time. Is it 5 p.m. on Friday yet?

1.

Where/When: , 603 Edmonston Dr., Rockville. Shows run on Friday, 8 p.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: The Musical Theater Center will be showcasing Singular Sensations, Upbeat Unlimited, and their newest ensemble, Opening Act. You may not have the time, or the money, to head up to the Big Apple, but this show will make you feel like you're strutting down The Great White Way.

Pricing: Tickets are $18 to $20.

2. 

Where/When: , 14901 Carrolton Rd., Rockville. Sunday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: If you're into competitive sports, than you won't want to miss this Scrabble Scramble. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams with the highest scores. All proceeds will be donated to Montgomery County's Literacy Council. If you're planning on participating, be sure you brush up on those two-letter words.

Pricing: $200 for a team of four people to participate. Dinner is included.

3. 

Where/When: , 8821 E. Village Ave., Montgomery Village. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: Make plans to attend the sixth annual home show in Montgomery Village this weekend. In addition to free food, refreshments and admission, the event will also feature a raffle drawing and more than 70 local vendors will be offering home improvement displays and presentations.

Pricing: Free

4. 

Where/When: Verizon Center, 601 F St. NW, Washington. Shows run Thursday through Sunday.

Why Go: Everyone has fond memories of going to the circus as a child - and children of all ages will surely "oooh" and "ahhh" during "The Greatest Show on Earth."

Pricing: Ticket prices range from $14 to over $100.

5. 

Where/When: Bruster's Real Ice Cream, 18519 N Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg. Saturday, noon to 11 p.m.

Why Go: Have you ever been to Bruster's? It's awesome! And even better, if you wear you P.J.'s on Saturday, you'll get a free single scoop waffle cone!

Pricing: Free!
