Get Out: Patch's Pick-and-Choose Weekend Planner

It’s Thursday. The weekend is so close you can almost taste it. Downside? You’ve got no idea what to do during your two days of freedom.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We've picked out some of the best events around Montgomery County for your done-work-outta-here time. Is it 5 p.m. on Friday yet?

1.

Where/When: Montgomery County Agricultural Center, 16 Chestnut St., Montgomery Village. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Skip the mall and peruse the flea market at your own pace.

2. 

Where/When: Laytonsville District Volunteer Fire Dept., 21400 Laytonsville Rd., Gaithersburg. Saturday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: Get your fill of spaghetti with sauce, salad, french bread, fruit cups, tea and coffee - a huge Saturday night meal! - and help out the volunteer firefighters at the same time. Your stomach - and your family - will thank you!

Pricing: Tickets for adults are $8, kids eats for $5. Children 5 years old and younger are free.

3. 

Where/When: , 107 S. Washington St., Rockville. Saturday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: This free concert (Did we mention it's free - as in, you don't have to pay?) will feature The National Philharmonic Singers, who will be performing "music from a variety of periods, ranging from early madrigals to contemporary."

4. 

Where/When:  20924 Frederick Rd, Germantown. Sunday, noon to 3 p.m.

Why Go: There will be kittens and they will be cute. Enough said.

Pricing: Free to attend. Adoption prices vary. Visit the Montgomery County SPCA's Web site for more information on pet adoption. 

5. 

Where/When: , 10701 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda. Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Subcontinental Drift, a "D.C. based artist collective," will be performing on Friday night this week. But we won't tell anyone if it's the $2 16 oz. PBR Happy Hour special that keeps you coming back.

Pricing: Tickets are $12 at the door.
