Report: Family of Rockville Teen Takes First Step Toward Suing Army

Family: The Army 'negligently' supervised a recruiter whom police say killed Michelle Miller.

The family of a Rockville teen whom police say was killed by an Army recruiter has filed a claim against the U.S. Army, the first step in a planned lawsuit seeking $10 million in damages, The Gazette reports.

The Army “negligently” supervised Adam Anthony Arndt, the 31-year-old Army recruiter from Germantown who police said killed 17-year-old Michelle Miller before turning the gun on himself, the family said in the claim, according to The Gazette.

The family said in the complaint that Arndt wrote sexually suggestive comments to potential recruits and openly discussed suicide, The Gazette report said.
