Rockville Economic Development, Inc. Hosts Commercial Real Estate B2B Industry Event

Rockville Economic Development, Inc. (REDI) hosted an event for commercial real estate professionals this morning at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville.  Commercial brokers from the metro region enjoyed a continental breakfast as they networked with other industry professionals and learned more about projects in the City of Rockville as well as resources that the City and REDI can provide.

REDI’s Executive Director Laurie Boyer presented information on how REDI helps to market the city as a great business location, and presented tips on how REDI staff can not only assist the commercial brokers to sell their buildings and locations, but also what they can do to assist their clients and prospects.

Attendees also benefited from exhibitors featuring many local vendors focused on related industries such engineering and architecture.  Vendors represented included: Bialek Environments, Inc., Greenman-Pedersen, Inc., Shulman Rogers, and Steven Karr, AIA, Inc.

Susan Swift, Director of City of Rockville’s Department of Community Planning and Development Services, offered information on how to access resources available through the City for development, commercial space, permitting, and more.  Sally Sternbach, Deputy Director, Montgomery County Department of Economic Development presented information on the Montgomery County MOVE Program.  The MOVE (Make Office Vacancies Extinct) Program is designed to attract life sciences, IT, cybersecurity and green technology businesses to Montgomery County.

“There is a high demand for commercial space in Rockville as business in this area continues to thrive,” said Laurie Boyer, Director of Rockville Economic Development, “this event is an opportunity for us to build REDI’s relationship with the commercial brokers, and to help make some local business-to-business connections within the commercial real estate world.”

“This event is a great idea”, said Rockville City Mayor, Bridget Newton. She added “It brings businesses together where they can exchange innovative ideas and solutions and make successful connections.”
