Optimal Networks, Inc. Acquires Database & LAN Solutions (DBLS) Rockville-based strategic IT support and consulting company acquires managed services provider to enhance service and technical capacities

Rockville, MD—Optimal Networks, Inc., a technology support, management, and strategic consulting company serving the DC Metro area, has acquired Database & LAN Solutions (DBLS), an  IT support company based in Annandale, VA that has served the DC area for almost three decades. Official documents were signed by both parties on July 2, 2013.

The acquisition makes it possible for former DBLS clients to take advantage of Optimal’s suite of cloud computing solutions and additional on-site, proactive engineering visits, should they choose to do so. The expanded client base will experience the enhanced service and technical capacities offered by a larger organization.

Jeff Greenspan, former CEO of DBLS, will initially join Optimal Networks as a senior consultant to ensure a smooth and effective transition into the combined firm. All but one of DBLS’s ten engineers will be joining the Optimal team, adding significant staff to their technical and service departments. The acquisition will expand Optimal’s client base by approximately 50 organizations.

“Optimal’s ongoing growth strategy has always been to seek out like-minded companies and CEOs who put their clients first,” said Heinan Landa, CEO of Optimal Networks. “DBLS fits these criteria; their leadership’s integrity is of the highest caliber and, like Optimal, they place extreme emphasis on doing what is best for their clients’ businesses and their own employees.”

Greenspan had been looking for a buyer for DBLS when a mutual acquaintance introduced the two CEOs and they met for lunch in late March 2013. Coincidentally, the two graduated just two years apart from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD; from there, the similarities, including their values-based corporate cultures, kept revealing themselves.

“We are very excited about this acquisition,” said Greenspan. “The Optimal team is as passionate as we are about providing superior service, and we think their first-class client management processes will provide significant value to our clients.”

Leadership at both organizations feels confident that the growth will benefit both companies and, most importantly, their combined client base. The acquisition has grown Optimal’s staff to 32 people; the company is now managing more than 2000 workstations and over 400 servers for approximately 250 clients.

This acquisition comes just one year after Optimal Networks acquired Peak Hosted Solutions to enhance their cloud computing service offerings.

“It has always been my long-term vision to grow Optimal—in the right ways at the right times,” said Landa. “This means growth that facilitates the continuity of premium service, with an expansion of resources, capabilities, and service offerings. It means growth that, ultimately, benefits Optimal clients and their businesses.”
