Three certified athletic trainers at HeadFirst Sports Injury and Concussion Care Center have just completed specialized training with the ImPACT baseline concussion testing program. HeadFirst Director of Sports Medicine Eric Hansen, ATC/L, Program Administrator Daniel Pokrifka, ATC, and Educator Victoria Simonette, ATC, are now ITAT (ImPACT Trained Athletic Trainer) certified. This certification designates them as leaders in administering ImPACT concussion testing to athletes, schools, youth organizations, and sports teams.
Hansen, Pokrifka and Simonette are three of only four ITAT certified trainers in Maryland, a designation that requires knowledge of the latest concussion management research and treatment options available, including the ImPACT neurocognitive assessment software.

“HeadFirst is already a leader in the diagnosis and management of mild Traumatic Brain Injury,” says Program Director Tony Doran, Psy.D., “and the ITAT certification now enables our athletic trainers to partner with credentialed ImPACT consultants. HeadFirst’s goal is to ensure that young athletes and other patients receive the highest standard of medical care to safely return to work, school and play.”

HeadFirst Sports Injury and Concussion Care was founded by Dr. Robert G. Graw, Jr., M.D., Chief Executive Officer of Righttime Medical Care, to provide post-injury medical evaluations for patients of all ages. HeadFirst consists of a medical team trained in the evaluation and management of mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) who works with a consortium of local specialists.
