Renderings were unveiled for two developments expected to bring more than 500 residences to area surrounding the Twinbrook Metro stop in Rockville.
On Monday, county and city officials joined Chevy Chase-based JGB Cos. for a ceremonial groundbreaking for Galvan at Twinbrook and The Terano.
According to JGB, Galvan will be built on the west side of the Metro station. The site will have 356 apartments and street-level retail—anchored by a 63,000 square-foot Safeway, the JGB said in a news release.
The Terano will be built on the east side—next to JGB’s other mixed-use property, The Alaire—and will offer 206 apartments and 33,000 square feet of street-level retail. The Terano is a joint venture project with the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority. The Terano and Galvan are part of JBG’s 30-acre, neighborhood-level development strategy surrounding the Twinbrook Metro station. When complete, it will comprise about three million square feet of mixed-used space.
