MoCo Food Trucks Park It, Online

A collection of food trucks in Montgomery County organized a collective website, www.mocofoodtrucks.com.

The grown-up lunch line is just as likely to be outside, on the corner of a busy intersection as it is inside of a strip mall restaurant. (And it's been that way for years now.) And while residents and workers in places lousy with food trucks may enjoy the variety and speed of mobile food offerings, keeping up with what's available and when can be a challenge.

A new website, www.mocofoodtrucks.com, organizes about a dozen food trucks within the county and includes a comprehensive calendar of when some of the trucks will be in which area.

Here's how the organizers describe the site:

"This site will tell you the three "Ws" of food trucks: Where we are, Who we are and What we serve. Our trucks operate throughout Montgomery County, MD from Germantown to Silver Spring and everwhere in between... Gaithersburg, Rockville, Bethesda & Potomac."

Montgomery County Patch.com sites have profiled many of the food trucks that are part of the website. See what to expect from each truck:

Sweetz Cheesecake, profiled on July 6, 2011:

After more than 20 years tucked away along the stretch of strip-mall eateries that flank the Montgomery County Airpark, Sweetz Cheesecake is taking its cream-and-sugar goodness on the go.

Cole's Palette, profiled on Oct. 18, 2012:

Cole's Palette sells sweet waffles that are familiar to most people, such as pecan and chocolate chip. Whaley also creates red velvet waffles from scratch and serves them with a cream cheese frosting and toasted pecans. But he applies his greatest culinary creativity to the savory variety. Whaley makes crab cakes with jumbo lump crab and serves them on a waffle.

Thatsalata, profiled on Oct. 31, 2012:

The truck's sandwiches, salads, tacos and burrito bowls are all made to order. The chopped salad, vegetarian chili and Vanilla-Dream shake have been mentioned in Washingtonian magazine for their healthy ingredients. Thatsalata also received the most votes for favorite food truck in a Bethesda magazine poll.

Curley's Q, profiled on Nov. 14, 2012:

The smoked meats at Curley's Q can be ordered as a sandwich, a plate or by the pound. There is a vinegar-based sauce called Love Potion #9 and a sweeter BBQ sauce with a little mustard added. You can also get a new horseradish sauce on the brisket or other sandwiches. Regular patrons are more than happy with the choices.

Cupcake Boulevard, profiled on Nov. 28, 2012:

Some of the flavors Cupcake Blvd offers are inspired by TV cooking shows, popular choices or customer requests. Red Velvet, Snickerdoodle, Nutella and Oreo are among the big sellers. Bethesda magazine called the truck's offerings "little works of art." The cupcakes are $3 each or $16 for a half-dozen and $30 for a dozen.

Go Fish, profiled on Dec. 13, 2012:

Fresh, uncooked seafood can be picked up at the truck if it is ordered online in advance. Lunchtime customers line up for the $14 lobster rolls, $12 crab cake sandwiches and $9 fish tacos.

The Brown Bag, profiled on Feb. 1, 2013:

With a tagline of “honest food,” The Brown Bag offers options like made-to-order sandwiches, soups and gourmet salads, and focuses on fresh ingredients, according to Brown Bag founder Erich Fuldner.
