Grocery Store to Hold Career Fair

The Fresh Market plans to hire 80 to 90 employees and open next month in Congressional Plaza.

Specialty grocer The Fresh Market will hold a career open house on Wednesday as it seeks employees for a new store scheduled to open in Congressional Plaza in Rockville next month.

The fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at . The store plans to hire 80 to 90 employees.

Among the jobs are openings for assistant managers, meat cutter, baker, grocery specialists, bulk specialist, candy/coffee specialist, cheese specialist, gift/floral specialist and seafood specialist.

Prospective employees are required to apply online at thefreshmarket.com/careers before attending the open house. (Click on “Search Jobs” in the left column and use keyword "131.")

The store will open in a 19,860-square-foot space .

The Fresh Market plans to open in late January, said Jill Powell, senior marketing manager for Federal Realty Investment Trust, which owns and operates Congressional Plaza.

The new market will feature “a bakery that bakes 30 breads and 14 different kinds of pie daily,a full-service meat counter, a wide selection of ready-to-serve entrées, fresh seafood, a produce department with a large organic selection and more than 200 imported and domestic cheeses,” according to a Federal Realty news release. The store also will feature bulk coffee, candy and snacks.
