Silver Spring Patch published an ode to a longtime favorite Italian eatery, Marchone's Italian Specialties in Wheaton—where authentic food and friendly service inspire decades of loyalty from customers.

“A deep affection for Italian tradition is evident from the moment you pass under the red, green and white awning and enter Marchone's Italian Specialties in Wheaton,” Patch wrote.

“I love to serve the people. Every day is an adventure," owner Filippo Leo told Patch. "To make new friends or see old friends all the time over here is wonderful."

Customers have been coming from across the area—including Kensington, Silver Spring, Bethesda and the District of Columbia—to relish in pastas, pizza, cold cut sandwiches, desserts and friendly service.

Eating fresh, seasonal food is an integral part of any healthy diet—as well as an integral part of local food movements.

The Washington Post has mapped out many of the farms across the DC region offering community-supported agriculture, also known as CSAs.

In exchange for paying a set fee that helps cover farm costs, customers receive a regular box of produce, eggs, meat or bread – delivered to a door or ready for pick up at farm locations – depending on the particular program. Prep for the coming harvest season and check out farms near you offering a CSA with this interactive map.

Washingtonian’s annual list of the DMV’s top restaurants is out (though not yet online)—and Montgomery County gets a refreshing nod for variety and fresh food.

Rockville’s Cava Mezze, La Limena and Sichuan Jin River are named in the list, as well as Bethesda’s Passage to India and Black’s Bar and Grille and Wheaton’s Ruan Thai, according to the "Max for Rockville" blog. Bethesda’s Himalayan heritage and Wildwood Kitchen, and Potomac’s Grilled Oyster Company, are also mentioned in the magazine’s 2013 “New and Noteworthy” restaurant preview.

Prohibition-style bar Brickside Food & Drink opened its doors to customers last week at 4866 Cordell Ave., Bethesda Patch reported.

The menu includes beer, wine and Prohibition-era cocktail offerings, as well as pizza, burgers, pastas and steak. The main dining room features a large-scale mural that reads “Vote Against Prohibition” after a famous Baltimore landmark, Patch wrote.

The restaurant is in its "soft opening" phase and is planning a grand opening celebration Feb. 8.
