Derwood Girl's Wish to Visit Atlantis Fulfilled

Kaylie Bremser, who has a congenital heart defect, and her family visited the Bahamas last month.

Kaylie Bremser and her family received a welcome home party on Feb. 23 in Rockville after the family returned from a trip to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas courtesy of UnitedHealthcare and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic.

The 8-year-old from Derwood lives with a congenital heart defect.

Rockville-based UnitedHealthcare sponsored Kaylie’s wish as part of a renewed, three-year, $3 million national alliance with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and its 62 chapters. UnitedHealth Group, whose employees threw the party for Kaylie, has funded more than 1,250 wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions beginning with its initial three-year, $4.5 million alliance in 2007.

Kaylie told wish granters that she chose to visit Atlantis because “it has dolphins, a big water slide and other rides, a beach, and kids’ place with crafts.”

Kaylie and her parents Leslie and Robert traveled to the Bahamas in mid-February.
