Coming Soon to Rockville: Liquid Blue Denim Boutique

New denim shop coming to Rockville Town Square in early 2014.

You don’t have to be geneticist to understand that if you want to look good, you need good jeans. And pretty soon, Rockville fashionistas will have a new boutique to buy their denim.

Liquid Blue Denim Boutique plans to open February 2014 in the Town Square space formerly occupied by Pomegranate & Co, at 36 Maryland Ave.

A preview pop-up is planned for the week of the Town Center tree lighting in early December, according to the store’s owner Jo Akin.

Liquid Blue is currently based in Fulton, MD and has a web store online. The Rockville location will be the retailer’s second boutique.

“We had a lot of customers coming in from out that way,” Akin said.

Akin said most of the Liquid Blue’s jeans inventory came from the denim epicenter of the world—California. The idea, Akin said, is to offer serious blue jean buyers products you wouldn’t find at a department store.

The shop sells brands like Citizens of Humanity, Joe’s and Hudson and some indie labels to customers willing to pay between $150 and $200 for a pair, according to Akin.

“It’s really for the denim enthusiast,” Akin said.
