"Although Sweetz has had a shop and wholesale since 1992, its mobile operation ... started rolling last summer," but only in DC, Carole Sugarman reported for Bethesda Magazine.

“We really only started there because we felt there was more density," Sweetz owner Craig Barsi told Bethesda Magazine.

But, "it was always our intention to come closer to home," he added.

Sugarman was there to sample the sweets at the truck's first adventure into Montgomery County—at Fishers Lane in Rockville on Wednesday.

Barsi plans to visit Montgomery Country at least one day a week. For the week beginning on July 30, he'll probably stop in Silver Spring or Bethesda, Bethesda Magazine added.

Three Sides:

Doughnuts are the latest trend in brunch, Tim Carman reported for The Washington Post

"Naturally, these homemade doughnuts tend to follow wider trends in gastronomy: They can be chef-driven (a brioche dough, for example, rather than a traditional yeasted dough), seasonal (raspberry glazes are now in vogue) or even influenced by flavors far removed from the Kingdom of Krispy Kreme," Carman wrote.

Carman interviewed some local pastry chefs about the doughnuts that they prepare during busy weekend brunches.

In Silver Spring, pastry chef Carolyn Crow offers three doughnut varieties at : raspberry, chocolate and dulce de leche. "Generously glazed and embedded with confetti sprinkles, Crow’s doughnuts have perhaps a more homemade appearance than those produced by her peers. But don’t let looks fool you: These are full-flavored rounds, particularly the raspberry doughnut, which is tart and sweet and delicious, Carman wrote.

And, in Wheaton, 's weekend dim sum comes with miniature doughnuts. "The non-Chinese crowd (like me) loves the crisp, lightly sweetened doughnuts. The traditional Chinese crowd is sort of befuddled by them," Carman added.

Boloco, Bethesda's latest fast-but-delicious food eatery, opened earlier this month on Bethesda Row (at 4930 Elm St.). Boloco, short for Boston Local Company, "serves up more than just your typical burrito. A glance at the menu reveals burritos flaunting flavors from New Orleans, Memphis, India and Thailand, to name just a few," .

Beef 'O' Brady's—a Florida-based sports pub chain known for its Buffalo-style chicken wings and fun, sports-watching atmosphere—will open a new location in Silver Spring at some time in the near future. "Collectively, this will ultimately bring more than 30 new jobs to the area as well as fresh projects for local contractors once they find franchise partners," wrote company spokesman Jason Belenke in an email to Patch.
