This week's foodie news roundup looks at one reviewer's fried chicken picks, new restaurants at NIH and the 'Rodeo Drive of the East Coast.'

As continues across the nation, Washingtonian Magazine surveyed the fried chicken offerings at DC-area restaurants. In Montgomery County, Silver Spring's beloved  made Anna Spiegel's list of restaurants serving top fried chicken dishes.

Jackie's skillet-fried chicken dish, served on Monday evenings for $15, comes with three pieces of "plump Amish chicken" and sides of potato salad, collard greens and a "house-made hot sauce for dipping," Spiegel wrote.

Not a fan of chicken? Try the duck tacos, also featured on the Monday menu, Spiegel suggested.

Three Sides:

After being , the Friendship Heights space that used to house the popular  and  restaurants inside the ritzy Collection at Chevy Chase (5471-5481 Wisconsin Ave., Chevy Chase) will have a new occupant in early 2013, Bethesda Magazine reported.

Mi Cocina—a Texas-based restaurant chain whose menu includes standard Tex-Mex fare like fajitas, enchiladas and tacos—will move into the space in the Wisconsin Avenue building that has been dubbed the 'Rodeo Drive of the East Coast.'

Only in a place called Friendship Heights could and  pair so well with tacos and sour cream.

 (7003 Wisconsin Ave., on the Bethesda-Chevy Chase border), is closed for a few months as it undergoes renovations, Bethesda Magazine reported. When it opens again (probably in October), the restaurant's formal atmosphere—with —will have been replaced with a fresh new look (sans tablecloths), along with a new menu.

Frozen yogurt joint Red Mango will debut soon in Bethesda—but you'll have to have an 'in' at the to get this healthy and delicious treat, which has been rated "Best Smoothie/Frozen Yogurt" by Zagat, according to the business's website.

The fro yo shop could be open within a year, but as it'll be inside the NIH campus, it won't be accessible to the general public, . The next closest one is in .
