Maryland-Based TV Shows, Baltimore's Josh Charles Nab Golden Globe Nominations

Both "House of Cards" and "Veep" are filmed in Maryland.

Baltimore-made "Veep" and "House of Cards," and stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Kevin Spacey garnered Golden Globe nominations announced Thursday, reports theBaltimore Sun.

Dreyfus was nominated as best actress in a TV comedy by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for "Veep," the HBO political satire that features Louis-Dreyfus as Vice President Selina Meyer, the newspaper said. 

"House of Cards," the Netflixpolitical thriller, picked up four major nominations, the Sun said, including best drama and best lead actor in a drama for Spacey.

The new season of "House of Cards launches in February online, and will feature scenes from Annapolis, Patch earlier reported. The cast and crew filmed in Annapolis in June, primarily at the Maryland State House, which is being used as a makeshift U.S. Senate Chamber. Several Annapolis locals were used as extras in the scenes.  

Baltimore native Josh Charles also was nominated as best supporting actor in a TV drama for his performance in "The Good Wife," which airs on CBS.
