Opening day for chocolate eatery Max Brenner (7263 Woodmont Ave.) can't be far away when the door is open and the sign says "training in progress," right? That was the picture on Thursday. For a new live jazz venue in Montgomery County, try Benny’s Bar and Grill (7747 Tuckerman Ln., Potomac) in the Cabin John Shopping Center in Potomac. The restaurant, which opened in April, has offered live jazz on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights for about a month, owner Benson Fischer told Patch. Read more on Potomac Patch.

Bethesda-based company Honest Tea ran a fun "Honesty Study" earlier this month to determine how honest people are in different parts of the country. Sadly, while Bethesdans came up 91 percent honest and Marylanders as a whole were 89 percent honest, Honest Tea founder and Bethesda resident Seth Goldman had his bike stolen from the Bethesda Metro station on one of the days of the study.Read more on Bethesda-Chevy Chase Patch.

Free smoothie alert: Stop by one of the three DC-area Jamba Juice locations from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday for a free 16-ounce smoothie, offered to celebrate Jamba Juice's one-year anniversary in the DC area.

Served with the free smoothie will be a free scratcher card with discounts on future Jamba Juice purchases, and one lucky patron will receive free smoothies for a year, Jamba Juice reported.

The three participating locations are:

  • Montgomery Mall: 7101 Democracy Blvd., Bethesda.
  • Dupont Circle: 1350 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC.
  • Union Station: 50 Massachusetts Ave. NE, Washington, DC.
