When Does Leaf Collection Start in Rockville?

City announces dates for seasonal leaf collection.

Leaf collections start next week in Rockville, the city announced.

Crews will start with neighborhoods on the east side of town the week of Oct. 14 and will extend west and then south through Nov. 15. 

More pick-ups are scheduled in December.

The city has posted a map and schedule at its website, RockvilleMD.gov.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Leaves should be raked into the gutter or immediately next to the pavement if no curb or gutter exists.
  • Don’t put leaves in plastic bags. Use biodegradable paper bags, instead.
  • Place leaves at the curb by 6 a.m. and make sure limbs, rocks and other heavy objects are removed from the pile.
  • After fall collection dates, leaves may still be set out in paper lawn bags or 32-gallon trash cans with other yard waste on regular collection days.
