The Scene: Civil War Comes to Rockville

A reenactment of Confederate Gen. J.E.B. Stuart ride through Rockville on June 28, 1863.

On June 29, 2013, "J.E.B. Stuart" rode into the city—though this time in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the general's march through town.

General J.E.B. Stuart really did trot through the city of Rockville on June 28, 1863. He was riding with his Confederate Calvary and they were en route to Gettysburg.

Heritage Montgomery—in coordination with the City of Rockville and local historical groups—hosted a day of activities throughout the city to memorialize the historic chain of events.

Rockville 11 provided this footage. You can also watch the video at the city's official YouTube channel.
