Surf Report: Must-See Maryland Websites

Bed bugs and bike racks.

Looking for someplace different for your Internet travels? Here is Patch's weekly rundown of interesting sites picked especially for Montgomery County.

  • Greater Greater Washington argues against dividing the Montgomery County Council into rural and urban districts. "Creating districts mostly homogeneous in their development pattern could jeopardize the county's success at planning its growth countywide," David Alpert writes.
  • In a recent entry in his blog, Just Up the Pike, Dan Reed marvels at the benches and bike racks outside the Fillmore. "... I'm surprised they even appeared on a state highway like Colesville Road, given that Maryland highway planners seem reluctant to accommodate anyone other than drivers in downtown Silver Spring."
  • The website FireRescue1 has a story from WUSA9 about three Montgomery County fire stations infested with bedbugs. "Assistant Fire Chief Scott Graham ... would NOT reveal which three stations are having the problem."
  • The Washington Winds play "Serengeti Sunrise" by John Wasson.
