Road Work Alert: Temporary Shutdown of Lane on Rockville Pike, Veirs Mill Road Starts Sunday

Construction is scheduled four nights a week, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Beginning Sunday night, portions of Rockville Pike and Veirs Mill Road will be closed as the city replaces a water main.

Temporary water service interruptions are possible; affected properties would be notified, city officials said in a news release.

The construction is expected to take place 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday, between First Street and Baltimore Road, and expected to last two months.

One northbound lane will be closed during construction.

As part of the city’s water main rehabilitation program, Mid-Atlantic Utilities was contracted to upgrade the existing 8-inch water main to 12-inches and eliminate a dead-end loop in the water system.
