Patch Picks: Nonprofits in Rockville

Rockville has a number of nonprofits to meet the needs of residents.

Nonprofit organizations provide a range of services that meet needs not met by traditional corporations.

In Rockville, nonprofit and for-profit are partners. With , nonprofits sell cards offering discounts at city businesses. The $25 sale price of each card goes directly to the nonprofit for its operations.

This week's Patch Picks highlights five nonprofits that are doing a great job in Rockville and are benefiting from the Rockville Rewards cards.

  •   provides job training for people with disabilities. The organization also offers programs for infants and children born with chronic medical conditions, as well as events and trips for seniors with disabilities.
  •   has a number of programs for the homeless, elderly and frail. The organization strives to be the voice for those who are not in a position to speak for themselves. Since 1967, Community Ministries has served more than 25,000 people in need and provided more than 381,000 bed nights for the homeless. 
  • has served the needs of families in Rockville for nearly 50 years. This cooperative school is parent-owned and dedicated to helping each child develop emotionally and intellectually to their fullest extent.
  • is the place for talented kids. With performing ensembles and musical productions, the center currently serves nearly 2,000 kids with a passion for singing, dancing and/or acting and boasts alumni who have gone on to Broadway.
  • offers classes that meet the needs of those learning English as a second language. The council serves nearly 900 adults a year and offer classes in English for daily living and conversation.
