Think A-RTS with The Thinker at Rockville Town Square

On Tuesday, April 8th, A-RTS at Rockville Town Square will welcome the “Tin Man” Thinker sculpture by Lorann Jacobs to kick off the fine arts festival taking place May 3 – 4, 2014. 

The sculpture weighs 1,500 pounds, and will sit at the center of Rockville Town Square, between Buffalo Wild Wings and Thai Pavilion on Maryland Ave. 

The artist, Lorann Jacobs, studied at the Maryland Institute of Art and Design in Baltimore and the York College of Pennsylvania. She has designed and produced more than 1,000 figurative sculptures in the last twenty years, often using animals and mythological figures as subjects.

Augustine Rodin created The Thinker in 1881 in Paris. The original piece portrayed a man deep in thought who was only able to express himself through art. The sculpture to be installed at Rockville Town Square will symbolize this original piece and reinforce the importance of art in the community.
