St. Mary's Catholic Church to Celebrate Bicentennial Year!

Beginning August 22, 2013, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, located at 520 Veirs Mill Road, will be kicking off a series of events to celebrate its Bicentennial Year. The earliest recorded ceremony attributed to the parish, a baptism, was in the summer of 1813.  From humble beginnings of services being held in parishioner’s homes, the parish has grown to include over 2,500 families.

“The parishioners of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and I are very pleased and privileged to celebrate 200 Years of Catholic Faith,” said Reverend Monsignor Robert G. Amey, Pastor.  “We invite the residents of Rockville to participate in our events as we will be sharing our history in Rockville.”

In celebration of the Bicentennial Year, St. Mary’s Church will be selling a new history book of the parish in Rockville by parishioner Roger Langley. Books will be available for purchase at St. Mary’s in September.
