Literacy Council Appoints New Board Members

The Literacy Council of Montgomery County, Maryland, Inc. appointed Barbara Benson, Rhea Cohn, Jim Hastings, Suma Madapur, and Debbie Murphy to its board of directors.   A retired senior executive with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Benson currently tutors an ESL student and is an assistant trainer for the Literacy Council’s tutoring program.   Cohn is an Assistant Professor in the George Washington University School of Health Sciences and a health care consultant. Prior to retirement, Hastings was Director of Access Programs at the National Archives.  He is a volunteer tutor for the Literacy Council and a volunteer at Manna Food Center. Madapur is a Technology Marketing Specialist at Avnet Inc. and joined the Literacy Council as a volunteer tutor in 2010. Murphy is the owner of Standard Supplies of Gaithersburg. She serves as Vice Chair of the Montgomery County Workforce Investment Board, is a past Rotary Assistant District Governor and Paul Harris Fellow.
